Ai Chi Lang bastion (Chi Lang relic area) is composed of a narrow valley, between Bao Dai mountain range in the east and Cai Kinh mountain range in the west. Along the valley is the winding Thuong River. Bastion was once regarded as a strong wall from afar to protect the country from invasions from the north. King Le Dai Hanh (941-1005) commented that this place made "invaders entering like rafting downstream, leaving like fish caught by creel'".

From Hanoi, visitors can follow National Highway 1A to the Ai Chi Lang relic. This area stretches for about 20 km, the sights are concentrated mainly in Chi Lang commune and Quang Lang commune, Chi Lang district, Lang Son.

Nearly 30 km from the center of Chi Lang district, the next destination favored by many tourists after visiting Ai Chi Lang is Khau Sao hill (Khau Slao), in Suoi Ma A village, Huu Kien commune. This place is known by many people as "The Second Mau  Son", "the green steppe of Lang Son".

The hill has an elevation of 760 m above sea level, 144 ha wider, has rugged terrain and is quite difficult to travel. This place is used by local people to graze cattle such as horses, buffaloes and cows. There are more than 1,700 horses in the hill, of which nearly 700 pure white horses.

"Grassland dance" of horses on Khau Sao hill. The Tay and Nung people here mainly live by raising horses. The hill has abundant grass and clear water, cool climate so the white horse breeds rapidly.

Horses are completely free-grazed without any care. In the morning, people set up their horses and drove to the places where they drank water and forced them into separate areas of each family to easily monitor their health.

Speaking of Chi Lang, it is impossible to ignore the specialties of custard-apple, consisting of two types which are friable custard-apple and tough custard-apple.  Custard-apple is grown throughout Chi Lang, and most and the most bloom is the section along Highway 1A stretching to Huu Lung.

One of the most famous places to grow custard-apple Chi Lang is Dong Banh rock mountain, located at an altitude of about 200 m. The harvested baskets are transported by pulley from above to the foot of the mountain.

After that, custard-apple is transported through wooden bridge to consume at custard-apple market of Dong Banh (located next to National Highway 1A), the rest traders buy and move to other provinces such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City. ..

August 11th, the 3rd edition of Chi Lang custard-apple festival takes place at the district agricultural product introduction center, with product promotion activities, sharing ways of planting and competitions.
