Salt mine of 250 million years under the shimmering seabed

This salt mine was formed 250 million years ago on the seabed of Ukraine. When the sea dried up it left a giant cave with a huge mass of salt.

The salt mine forms a small city called Soledar, which means "gift from salt".

It has been considered a salt mining area since the 16th century when salt was concentrated by burning fire to evaporate the steam.

The process of exploiting salt by burning wood leads to deforestation. After that, it was exploited by coal but the production scale was still low. Under the electric light, it shimmered like a gem.

By the 19th century, the mine was exploited on an industrial scale to ensure productivity and resources.

After more than 100 years of exploitation, the mine has become a 300m-long tunnel, many places transformed into luxurious art and music rooms under the hands of workers - artists.

Even here there are football fields, churches, bars for workers which forming a closed complex.

Cold and dry air contains a small amount of salt dust that is thought to have healing effects.
