Close-up of the cave makes tourists 'stunned' when coming to Ha Long

Sung Sot Cave is a karst cave in the limestone mass of Bo Hon Island, this is a large and beautiful cave in the most of Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh), tourists must be "stunned" by its beauty once you came here.

The cave was discovered by the French in 1901 and gave the cave the name Grotte des surprises (cave of amazement). Visitors can reach Sung Sot cave by going from Tuan Chau pier.

Coming to Bo Hon Island pier, visitors will climb about 50 steep stone steps and then climb down more than 10 stone steps to the cave entrance. These steep steps slit under the forest canopy and are joined together, making the walk feel like it is entering a mysterious world.

At the mouth of the cave is a relatively calm sea surrounded by Bo Hon Mount. The door is about 25 m above sea level. The luxuriant foliage covering the cave entrance makes the entrance to the cave even more beautiful.

With a total area of over 10,000 m2, Sung Sot cave is one of the largest caves in Ha Long Bay. Quang Ninh tourism industry has created a small paved path from the cave door extending to the exit, and decorated elegant lampposts on both sides to guide the way for visitors and use light to enhance the beautiful scenery in the cave.

Inside the cave is divided into two main compartments. The outer compartment is often likened to a giant opera house with curved arches and lots of stalactites glistening like lights. From the cave floor to the ceiling is about 30 m high. The ceiling of the cave is full of fine smooth indentations that make the cave feel elaborate and sophisticated.

And yet, in the middle of the cave, there are also large stalactite columns connecting the cave dome to the floor of the cave, making the scenery even more beautiful. The cave roof has no cracks, so there is no water dripping. Interestingly, such a large cave but when entering the cave, the voice of the person is not echoed but still clear.

The next compartment is equally magnificent, with the cave suddenly expanding with a capacity of up to thousands of people. In this compartment, there are many stalactites created by the magical hands of nature, forming many shapes such as swords, horses, dinosaurs, banyan trees, sea bears ... Some ponds look small and very pretty makes the cave scene even cooler. Stalactites and stalagmites fill the cave and inside the cave, creating a spectacular sight.

Continue to the highest peak of the cave, visitors will admire an enchanting scene called "royal garden". There is a clear, calm lake and greenery surrounding, beautiful leaves and flowers.
