The US Embassy temporarily suspended to grant visas and closed many services in October

The US Embassy in Hanoi has announced the closure of a number of non-emergency services of the Consular Section for facilities repair work.

In its September 9 announcement, the US Embassy in Hanoi said it would temporarily shut down non-emergency services of the Consular Section from October 7-17 to repair and upgrade offices.

Specifically, the US Embassy will suspend interviews for non-immigrant visa applicants. Some non-emergency services for US citizens, such as passport renewal, birth certificates, notarization services, are also suspended during repair and need to be handled through an online appointment scheduling system from October 18.

For applications for new entry visas, applicants can still proceed by mail. Diplomatic and official passports are still accepted as usual.

The US Embassy recommends that individuals wishing to apply for a visa to come to the US plan early and make an appointment for an interview before October 4. The Consular Section of the US Embassy will operate normally from October 18.

Also in the September 9 announcement, the US Embassy said the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City was still working normally during the period 7-17 October.
