First opened in 2000 as Jazzland, the park quickly went bankrupt. In 2003, it was sold to Six Flags and reopened under the name Six Flags New Orleans under the theme DC Comics and Looney Toon. However, in 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck and made the place sink in a water tank for a month. The damage the storm left was beyond the repair and payment capacity of Six Flags, resulting in the park's abandonment after only 5 years of operation (under two different owners). After several failed attempts to redevelop the area, Six Flags was forced to abandon the lease and the property was taken over by the city in 2009. Since then, many efforts to reopen this park or turn into a shopping mall has been set up but was soon canceled for various reasons. Photo: Thrillzone, Shotbystevn.

However, venturing into the park is not recommended. The reason because after many years of not using, everything here has been devastated by nature. There are even crocodiles living in waterways. Photo: Michael Seater.

Any hope of reviving the amusement park was officially shattered when a report in the city's media said it would be demolished in 2019. However, this is still the case of a testament to the strong impact of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Photo: Flickr.
