Phuoc Kien Pagoda (Chau Thanh district, Dong Thap) has an area of about 5,000 m2, located in the middle of the water field. According to the abbot, this species is called the king lotus, grows a lot in the Amazon forest (South America). The tree is famous for its stamina of weight from 50 kg to 100 kg.

Not only large size, but lotus leaves can also "carry" people weighing up to hundreds of kilograms. "The first time I stood up, I was quite worried, afraid to fall into the pond. The lotus leaves here are very strange, I have never seen anywhere and unexpectedly can stand up so comfortably," said My Huong (16 years old), Vinh Long.

The large lotus pond behind the pagoda has an area of about 700 m2. According to the abbot, both lotus ponds were formed from the bomb crater. "In 1992, this type of lotus grows on its own but the temple does not bring seeds to grow. Until now, lotus has developed itself, many guests ask for seeds to plant but the trees cannot grow," said Thich Hue Tu.

Guests must step from the bridge across the pond with a plank and stand in thin tin trays so that the leaves do not tear.

The king lotus is the largest tree in the family of lily, with thick, round leaves, leaf edges erect, that diameter can be up to 2-3m. Lotus in the temple usually grows quickly in the floating season from July to September in the lunar calendar. Flowers bloom in three days and change color continuously. From the initial pinkish-white, each blooming will be a bit darker, until the flower's petal is dark purple.

The main hall of the pagoda was built simply, the ceiling was only covered with corrugated iron. Inside, in the beginning, the Buddha was worshiped after that adding more emperors and the Holy mother.

On the side of the main hall is a large bell over 100 years old, cast from the time when the pagoda was first established.

In front of the lotus pond, there are three statues of monkeys in different positions, which means "not talking, not listening, not seeing". Statues are meant to teach people that suffering comes from hearing the world, talking about the world, and suffering from seeing the faults of others.
