Phillips cruises tours – kenai fjords cruise

Cruise the gorgeous, wildlife-filled waters of Kenai Fjords with a longtime Alaskan operator, Philips Cruises & Tours.

They’ve been cruising in nearby Prince William Sound since 1958. Now, they’ve added a 5-hour cruise from Seward into stunning Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park. While other companies offer a 6-hour tour, Philips’ fast boat lets you see the same sights in less time. It’s a great way to spend your day in Seward, but can also be done as a day trip from Anchorage or Girdwood thanks to packages that include transportation by coach or rail.

Into the Fjords

The 115-mile cruise departs from Seward’s cruise ship terminal—not the small boat harbor like other tours. You’ll set off into Resurrection Bay, passing the enormous Bear Glacier, as the ancient river of ice makes its way to the water. Cruise past sheer, lush cliffs and rocky islands that emerge from the shimmering blue. You’ll pass through the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, then you’ll see two more dramatic glaciers—Holgate and Aialik—in Kenai Fjords National Park.

Of course, wildlife abounds. Keep an eye out for puffins, sea otters, harbor seals, humpback whales, orcas, Steller sea lions, and Dall’s porpose. And you’ll have the unique opportunity to see puffins near the Chiswell Islands, as well as hundreds of black-legged kittiwakes at a rookery. You may also spot black bears along the shore or mountain goats clinging to craggy cliffs.

Hot Meal & Signature Drinks

Included is a hot meal (the only tour company here to serve a hot meal); you’ll enjoy wild Alaska smoked salmon chowder or hearty vegetable chili (a kid’s meal option is also available), plus complimentary coffee, tea, and water. You can also try a Philips Cruises specialty: Glacier Ice Margaritas.

The M/V Bravest & Phillips’ Turnaround Guarantee

You’ll be on board the M/V Bravest, a 127-foot, high-speed, stable catamaran, which features an enclosed, heated seating area with large windows and two outdoor decks, making it great for any weather. Even so, Phillip’s has a turnaround policy. If the water gets too choppy out near the open water, preventing the cruise from reaching the glaciers in Aialik Bay, you’ll spend more time cruising in Resurrection Bay and will receive a partial refund.

Inside the boat, all tables have USB charging ports, as well as onboard monitors that show the route you’re cruising, so you’ll always know where you are in the park.
